Favorite Designer ②: gouk (from Japan)

Since I was in Japan, I liked Asian inspired fashion. But especially since I came here to the US, I started to like more of those Japanese brands that were inspired by traditional Japanese (mostly Kimono) fashion.

gouk is created by the designer Mr. Kunitomo, who also has a gothic line "T-Kunitomo"
A lot of their designs are inspired by kimono fabrics or Japanese retro styles.
There are a few stores throughout Japan but their Harajuku store is my favorite. Whenever I go to the store, I feel like I've time-traveled into 1940's Japan.

Favorite Designer ① Vivienne Westwood

I must say that my most favorite fashion designer is Vivienne Westwood.
I have been following her work for 12 years now.
I don't own any big name brands except for VW... She surprises and inspires me with every collection she puts out.

Dame Vivienne Westwood (born April 8th 1941) is a British fashion designer largely responsible for bringing modern punk and new wave fashion into the mainstream.
The legendary "Crown Hat"

The most loved "Love Jacket"
The historical "Naomi Falling"

Carrie Bradshaw from "Sex and the City"
Vivienne Westwood is very popular in Asia, especially in Japan. I don't think she was well known enough here in the US til the movie "Sex and the City" featured her wedding dress.
I would like to see her more well known here in the US so there can be a possibility of more stores carrying her fashion here, but at the same time, I don't want her fashion to be too commercial.
Her legend carries on...

Alexander McQueen 1969 - 2010

One of the most talented fashion designer of this century has passed away today. I love his strong, punk-rock mixed, but elegant designs. I believe my most favorite designer, Vivienne Westwood, inspired his work a lot...
I would like to dedicate today's blog to him.
